Four Feathers Birthday Greetings Card

Sometimes it is hard to come up with a more masculine card for the guys. I tend to pick out flowers and cute ribbons. Because of this, I was happy to see the new Four Feathers Stamp Set and matching Feathers Framelits from the Holiday Mini shown on page 42.  If you haven't seen this catalog in person, please let me know and I will send you one right away....way too much cute stuff that you don't want to miss.

 This is what the stamp set and matching framelits look like. I ordered the stamp set in wood but it also comes in clear.

For this card I used Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, and Very Vanilla.
Cut your Crumb Cake Cardstock in 1/2 to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2  sheet. Fold that in half to make your card base. Next cut your Early Espresso to be 4 x 5 1/4. Emboss this piece using the Woodgrain embossing folder sold on page 227 through the Big Shot and set aside.
Cut Very Vanilla to 2 1/2 x 4. Cut the Cajun Craze to 2 3/4 x 4 1/4. 
Using the Stamp Set Wetlands, sold on page 172, stamp the goose and grassland in Crumb Cake. Now holding the stamp vanilla piece, tear some of the bottom off. Tear towards you instead of away. This leaves more of the paper grain. Do this also with the Cajun Craze piece. Gently ink the bottom of each piece by rubbing the stamp pad over the torn part.

This shows you the Cajun Cardstock. I use the Crumb Cake on the Very Vanilla piece.

 Now attached your Early Espresso piece to your card base. Attached your vanilla piece to your Cajun Craze.

I like to use dimensionals which are sold on page 204 to make some things on my card standout more. Here I put one in each corner. Simply pull off the protective paper and it sticks to your card.

Next we need to make the feathers. I used three of the four feathers from the stamp set. The smaller feather, I stamp with Crajun Craze on Crumb Cake paper. One of the larger feathers, I stamped in Crajun Craze on Very Vanilla paper and the third is a large feather stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.

After you have stamped your feathers, you will need to cut them out with your framelits using the Big Shot. The best thing is this is a great way to use up your small scraps. When using the framelits, have the grooved side down making a sandwich of plexiglass, paper, framelits, and the top plexiglass.

After you have them all cut, put a little adhesive on while you stack your feathers. I then used our Espresso Baker's Twine sold on page 206. I used a fork to make a perfect bow and attached it with a Mini Glue dot to the feathers. If you can't remember how to make a fork bow, look back in my archives where I gave a step by step direction on how to.

 

 My Birthday Greetings is also from the Stamp Set Wetlands. Love how Stampin Up puts their stamp sets together so it is complete. Remember to stamp something on your envelope to make it complete! Envelopes are sold on page 194. The medium ones fit this card.
